This Ship has sailed...

  1. Nifty. I guess David Carter doesn't call this mechanism "boat" for nuthin'. Do you paste your tabs onto the background or slot them through?

  2. Whenever I can I try to slot the tabs. This ship is modified from a pattern by Roger Pattenden. He actually had a third stabilizing tab up the center, but his design was not meant to be a greeting card and was much bigger. My smaller ship didn't seem to need it.

  3. I like the stability you get when you slot through--also it seems you can help it fold or unfold the way you want depending on which direction you glue the tabs--but covering them up can be a pain, especially on the back. I generally have a decorative element on the front that can be strategically placed to cover the tab, but not usually the back.

Don't like that you have be absolutely sure the slits are in the right place. Glueing on, there's a little fudge room. :)

  5. yayix - Occasionally I will make the paper models of architecture that are on the web. I majored in architecture and used to be a draftsperson before becoming a SAHM, so historical models are of interest to me.
