I had a nutcracker like this a long time ago, with a wood piece on the back that the threads went through. Hmmmm, on a card...what to run the threads through, a piece of drinking straw? a flattened tube of cardstock? a bead(too fat)? a circle of cardstock with a hole punched in the center? Yeah, that might work.

Still haven't made an acetate snowglobe, but I finished my sliceform tree Christmas cards yay!
LOL, I have one of those pullstring nutcrackers on my tree right now! This guy is more along the lines of scissors, with an pivoting eyelet in the center.
