Cogs and gears are a favorite woodburning subject of mine. but this time I decided to make them out of paper - and make them turn! Not all of the gears turn at the same time, so you'll have to play around with them. Some are connected to each other, some aren't. Notice how the one wheel hangs over the edge a little bit: this is for easier turning, but don't forget to leave extra room in the envelope :)
This card in incredible!! Please tell me that it is something I can buy as my girlfriend would go nuts over this!

This particular card has unfortunately been sold. I can take custom orders again in November, but right now I am swamped! I'll be sure to put this design in my etsy shop soon. Thank you for asking :)
ReplyDeletePLease share the idea to make this card. At least half of it.:)
ReplyDeleteWish I had a shortcut to share with you on how to make this card, but I used plain old geometry and a circle template to cut out these gears. They are chipboard, with brads in the center. They are randomly placed, meaning I made all the gears first and then tried to place them on the card in an interesting and functional way
ReplyDeleteWow! I love this! How did you cut the shapes in the middle out? It seems like that would give me the most trouble.
ReplyDeleteRuni - I used a really sharp exacto knife, and it was probably the hardest part due to the thickness of the chipboard.
