Birthday Shark

A shark circles a boat of birthday presents and snatches one for the birthday recipient.

Just One Snowflake!

One of the easiest pop-ups to make: punch 2 large snowflakes and slit halfway thru the center. Line both snowflakes up and score 1/2" away from the slits, making sure the score line is parallel with the slits. Insert one snowflake into the other, bend the scorelines and glue to a card. So easy, and fast!

A Cat and a Cake

...and candles, of course! I colored the flames with orange and yellow oil pencil, then sealed them with glitter glue. If you don't seal your chalks or pencils when they are used inside a card, you'll wind up with smudges you didn't count on. The sealant doesn't have to be glitter glue, I just wanted the sparkly effect.

The Wheels are Turning

Cogs and gears are a favorite woodburning subject of mine. but this time I decided to make them out of paper - and make them turn! Not all of the gears turn at the same time, so you'll have to play around with them. Some are connected to each other, some aren't. Notice how the one wheel hangs over the edge a little bit: this is for easier turning, but don't forget to leave extra room in the envelope :)

Mom will not need her glasses!!

These letters are huge! I had to make a custom mailing box for it since it's 5/8" thick.

... and butterflies on my craft desk :)

Tweezer Workout

The finished card: I decided on the bunnies. The silhouetted couple made too strong of a focus, and for this card, I wanted the focus to be on the flowers. Now if this were to turn into a wedding card, I would mute the flowers a little and focus on the bride and groom under the arch. And if I didn't need to leave room for a signature, I would have hung some wind chimes from that tree...

Arbor Garden

Not good pics, but this one is still on my desk unfinished. It needs something under the arbor arch, and I can't decide between two bunnies or a silhouetted couple embracing. Better pics to follow once I can make up my mind....

Boo!

It feels funny working on a haunted house this time of year, but it's for a special request. This is one of those cards that you can stick an electric tea light up the center
for display purposes.

Simple, Easy

I tweaked Sabuda's butterfly pattern to make this little thank you card. Fast and effective!

Bowling - A Work in Progress

This scenic flats style pop-up is still in its preliminary stages, and needs some rescaling and respacing. The ball is too small and the pins too close together, among other things.

A Very Fairy Christmas

This is a repeat from last year, but I still enjoy making her. Not showing in the photo is theglitter on her dress and wings.

Piano Pop-up

Pop-up keyboards have been around awhile, but I've never created one before. This is really origamic architecture, meaning the keyboard was cut from only one piece of paper.

S-T-R-E-T-C-H!

The accordian folds make this normal 5 1/4" x 4" card stretch to nearly 2 feet long!

Spin Away!

I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial already listed on my blog for a spinning card (This snowflake twirls when you open the card). Here's just another variation using a plastic, glittery tree ornament.

MS saves me time!

I used to draw and cut these little haunted houses, but Martha comes along with a punch this year that saves me oodles of time!

Busy Bee(s)

Detoured again! My hot air balloon pop-up was supposed to be finished by now :( Instead, this little bumblebee card jumped to the front of the list. The best part of this one is that those bees hover on paper springs. The slightest little movement causes them to buzz around! Simple and effective.

Simple instructions for this one: use an egg-shaped punch for the body, a heart-shaped punch for the wings (cut in half from vellum), two jellybean- shaped pieces for the heads, add antennae and some coiled paper springs cut from a circle-shaped punch. You're all set!

Bridge to Nowhere!

Well, "Australia" certainly is a long movie - this is what I made while watching it last night....
